Betangady, Nov 14: On November the 14th, the beautiful occasion of children’s day, the Auditory Verbal Therapy (AVT) facility was inaugurated by Pascal Monteiro, former vice president and life member, Kuwait Canara Welfare Association (KCWA) by cutting the ribbon.
Thereafter it was blessed by Dr Dennis Gabriel Veigas, rector of Darshan Institute of Theology, Bengaluru. On this auspicious occasion, Children’s Day was celebrated in Daya Special School by lighting the lamp and paying tribute to the first prime minister Jawaharlal Nehru.
In his inaugural speech, Pascal Monteiro thanked the president and all the office bearers of KCWA for extending full financial support towards Daya Special School especially for the construction of AVT facility. He further thanked all the Kuwaiti employees for sacrificing their share towards these most vulnerable special children.
He appreciated wholeheartedly the care and support provided by CKSK and its staff members. Lancy Pereira, president of Prerana Co-operative Society distributed school bags to all the children of Daya Special School. He thanked Daya Special School for giving them an opportunity to serve the poor. Fr Vinod Mascarenhas, director, Daya Special School, wished all the children and expressed heartfelt thanks to KCWA and its members for coming to the aid of Daya Special School in times of dire need.
He requested Pascal Monteiro to extend warm gratitude to KCWA president and all its office bearers. On this occasion, to express sincere gratitude to KCWA, Pascal Monteiro was honoured with floral bouquet, fruits and garland.
In the presidential speech, Dr Denis Gabrial Veigas highly appreciated in bringing these special children from nook and corner of Beltangady taluk and providing treatment, care and support. To provide care and support, this institute and staff invest lots of patience, energy and love towards these children. Fr Vinod Mascarenhas has been leading this institution for many years without any deficiency by appointing physiotherapist, speech therapist, teachers and supportive staffs to take care of the children in this special school.
He wished all special children joyful future like Nehru dreamt. Pratap Simha Nayak, MLC of Beltangady paid friendly visit to Daya Special School and appreciated the work done by Capuchin Krishik Seva Kendra towards the most vulnerable children. The director thanked him for his support to construct a classroom for the special children.
Due to the emergency programme, he expressed inability to participate in the programme. Nevertheless, he assured his full support for the special children of Daya School. Towards the end of the programme, Nellu, film actor and artiste was felicitated for joining hands to provide technical support for the construction of AVT facility. Nellu and his team’s voluntary services were
appreciated by the director of Daya Special School.
On this occasion, Prithviranjan Rao, president, Manjushri Senior Chamber International and headmistress Divya T V, parents' representative Geetha and student representative Mokshith were also present on the dais.
The programme was compeered by Sujatha and Ashwini proposed a vote of thanks.
