Udupi: Strange Theft at Korangrapady – Family Loses Gold Ornaments

Udupi, May 13: In an incident that occurred at Korangrapady near here on Wednesday May 11 night, gold ornaments were found to have been stolen from a house. Strangely, there is no indication of any other persons having entered the house in question.

The theft occurred on Wednesday night, when the family members were sleeping. The family members realized about the theft after getting up on Thursday morning. The bolt of the house had remained locked from inside. A key kept on the television stand in the house was found to have been used to open a cupboard belonging to Sarvottam Tantri and his mother. Various gold and silver ornaments besides items used for worship, went missing. The estimated value of missing items is seven lac rupees.

District superintendent of police, Dr Ravikumar, deputy superintendent of police, Jayant Shetty, finger print experts, sniffer dogs etc, visited the spot. A case was registered in the local police station, and investigation has begun.
