Bangalore: Heavy Rains Lash City, 10 Trees Uprooted


Bangalore, May 12 (PTI): Heavy rains accompanied by strong winds brought welcome respite to Bangaloreans, reeling under the summer heat.

The rains however left 10 trees uprooted, causing traffic snarls in some areas including Indiranagar, HAL, Thippasandra, BVK Iyengar road, C M H road and Sagar Hospital road, official sources said.

The driver of a private cab had a narrow escape when a tree branch fell on his car bonnet in front of Kanteerava stadium, they said.

Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike sources said no low lying areas were inundated as proper drainage system had been put in place in those areas.

However, the rains led to traffic snarls on roads like Mysore Road and Peenya which house a number of industries and commercial establishments.
