Kasargod, May 11: As already announced, counting of votes for the Kerala assembly election held recently, will begin at 8 am on Friday May 13. All the results are expected to be out by 11.30 am that day. Counting of votes for Manjeshwar, Kasargod, and Uduma assembly constituencies will be conducted at Padannakkad Nehru College.
15 tables have been arranged for each of these constituencies at the said college. While 14 tables will be used for counting purpose, the other table will be utilized for scrutiny by the polling officer. Ten rounds of counting will be followed by the announcement of results. Other than the election staff, only agents of candidates and observers are allowed entry into these counting centres. The agents of candidates should be present at the centres an hour before the beginning of the counting, and they will not be allowed to leave till the conclusion of counting. Use of mobile phones has been banned, a release by the office of the electoral officer said.
Victory processions, celebration by moving about in open vehicles, taking out of jathas, bike rallies and other forms of celebrations have been banned in the district. In case taking out of jatha cannot be dispensed with, permission from the district superintendent of police should be obtained without fail. In such cases, permissions may be granted with certain restrictions.
At the same time, raising slogans or taking out of jathas within a radius of one km from the counting centres has been banned. A release by the police department said that stringent steps will be taken against those who are found to violate this ban order.
