Mangaluru, Nov 2: Kannada Rajyotsava was celebrated in the campus on November 1 with great solemnity and opulence. Principal Dr N K Vijayan Karippal unfurled the Kannada flag.
Speaking on the occasion he opined that one must take pride in the rich cultural legacy of Karnataka. He added that Kannada language and culture have history of thousands of years and it is a matter of great pride for every Kannadiga to have received eight prestigious Jnaanapeeta awards for Kannada literature.
Subrahmanya Udupa, vice principal (academic), speaking on the occasion, urged the gathering to save Kannada language and its rich heritage.
Floral tributes were paid to Goddess Bhuvaneshwari and Nadageethe was sung on the occasion.
Raghavendra Shenoy, vice principal (admin) Vidyasharada, HoD of Kannada and all the members of the faculty and the students were present on the occasion.
Lekhana of I PUC accorded a cordial welcome to the dignitaries, compered the programme and proposed a vote of thanks.
