Mangaluru, Nov 2: With the mission of bringing assistance without discrimination to the wounded and with a purpose to protect health and life of human being, the Junior Red Cross Unit was inaugurated in the Ladyhill Victoria PU College Hall on October 28. Prajwal Rao H, assistant professor of Department of Microbiology, St Agnes College (Autonomous), Mangaluru was the inaugurator and addressed the young minds to promote in them the spirit of community health and social support.
The inauguration of the Junior Red Cross Unit was initiated with the lighting of the lamp by the dignitaries. The chief guest Prajwal Rao H gave a brief insight about the history of Red Cross and its mission. She also motivated the students to be a part of the activities organised by the Unit. Principal Sr Grace Maizy Miranda AC, College coordinator Sr Supriya AC along with the unit secretary Preethika DSouza graced the occasion. The unit members of Red Cross included the faculty members Seema Sheikh and Vanitha and student representatives H Anvitha of II Commerce and Chirashree of I Science were also a part of the inaugural ceremony.
The programme began with an invocation song sung by Sonal Veigas and U.Dhanya of II Commerce. The students of II Commerce welcomed the audience with a gentle and expressive welcome dance. The spotlight of the function was the mime show performed by the students of II Science and II Commerce which focused the need of hygiene, cleanliness and also blood donation in service to humanity.
Julisha Fernandes of II Science was the Master of the ceremony and Akifa of II Science officially thanked the dignitaries and the audience. The programme concluded with the college anthem.
