Mangaluru, Nov 1: The 67th Kannada Rajyotsava was celebrated with great pomp and splendor at S I T campus, Valachil on Tuesday, November 1 with a tag line of “Tantrika Neleyalli Kannadada Ale”. Translated this means “Creating waves with Kannada in the domain of engineering and technology”.
Dr Shinivasa Mayya D, principal of the college inaugurated the programme by lighting the lamp and showering rose petals on Kannadambe, Goddess Bhuvaneshwari, the reigning deity of Karnataka state. The state flag, the pride of Kannadigas, a feisty one in golden yellow and vermilion was hoisted on the occasion which was followed by a rendition of state and national anthem by the congregation led by team Aarohana.
The programme was coordinated by Sudheendra H N, assistant professor, department of mechanical engineering and coordinator of “AISIRI” Kannada Sangha with the help oits members. More than 600 students and staffs (teaching and non-teaching) witnessed the Rajyotsava celebrations.
On this occasion, the college music team raga performed a few kannada songs. Aisiri Kannada Sangha president Vidyashree and secretary Sharfath along with the members of Kannada sangha made the arrangement for the event.
