Kannada actor, Rajya Sabha Jaggesh in Canada for 'Tothapuri' screening

Toronto, Oct 20: The people of Karnataka residing in Canada were overwhelmed by the visit of Jaggesh the Kannada film super-star, producer, and the member of the Indian Parliament on October 15.

He visited Canada for a few days with his wife Parimala Jaggesh on the occasion of premiering one of his block buster films ‘Tothapuri’ and also to spend some time with Kannadigas residing in Canada.

During the initial days of the visit, he had a chance to meet different immigrant Kannadiga entrepreneurs who have been running successful businesses in Greater Toronto Area (GTA). One of them is Vijay Dante who owns the popular award winning south Indian restaurant ‘Udupi Madras Café’. Jaggesh toured all of GTA and Niagara Falls in a Rolls Royce phantom owned by Arjun who is the owner of the Law Firm VK Lawyers.

The premier show of the film ‘Tothapuri’ was conducted at York Cinemas, Richmond Hill in Toronto. The premier show was hosted by ‘Dreamsmedia Canada’ spearheaded by Kiran Bharthur and Prabhakar Rayappa.  

The Dreamsmedia Canada team also hosted a felicitation event for Jaggesh.  He was felicitated by the honorable MP of Nepean, Canada Chandra Arya who also hails from the same region as Jaggesh back in India.  

The event also witnessed the gracious presence of other delegates including Honorable MPP of Malton Deepak Anand, president of Indo-Canadian Chamber of Commerce Aravind Bharadwaj, Vaidehi Raut – chair of panorama India, Nagendra Krishnamurthy – director of community relations, panorama India, Satish Thakkar – chair, Canada India Foundation and Basavaraj Halli – successful entrepreneur and recipient of RBC Immigrant of the year award.

The event was sponsored by realtor Shiva Desai, dentist Dr Shobha Rajanna, Ravi Kygonahalli – realtor in GTA, Lakshmi Kygo – mortgage agent, Harish Rao – insurance broker, Arjun - VK Lawyers, Savitha Ramapriyan – SR Paralegal Services, Vijay Dante – Udupi Madras Café, Vibrant Hospitality Group and Tony Wadhwa – mortgage specialist. Jaggesh and his wife thanked the hosts Dreams media Canada  Kiran Bharthur on his efforts to bring him to canada and their team for organizing the event and taking care of them during their visit.

Actor Jaggesh with his wife visited award winning South Indian restaurant: Udupi Madras Café (UMC) in Mississauga, Canada owned by Mangalurean Vijay Dante who treated the actor and his wife some of the popular south Indian dishes so that they don’t miss the food back home.

Jaggesh wife  Parimala truly expressed her shock to listen to his husband film song “ Yenthintha Gundu “ at Udupi madras cafe. She said “I can’t imagine and believe and I am totally shocked,  for  me it’s like a bomb blast that I am hearing my husbands 30 years old movie song across 7 oceans and we are truly blessed and honored”. Also she added that “this is one of the most memorable day in my life”. 

About Jaggesh:

Jaggesh is an Indian politician, actor, director and producer, who mainly works in the Kannada film industry. He is a Member of Parliament in the Rajya Sabha from Karnataka  and the spokesperson of the Bharatiya Janata Party in Karnataka.

Jaggesh is originally from Mayasandra (Jadeya Mayasandra) of Turuvekere Taluk in Tumkur district. His political affiliation was with the Congress party. He ran in the Turuvekere constituency, and won with a healthy margin but resigned from the Legislative Assembly to join the Bharatiya Janata Party.[3] He served as Member of Legislative Council[4] and was held the cabinet rank as the vice-chairman of the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (K.S.R.T.C.).

Jaggesh has acted in nearly 150 movies and among them 10 became the Super Hits. His debut file is Kannadathi Maanavath. Jaggesh couple blessed with two children Guru Raj and Yathi Raj and a 7 year old grandson Arjun.
