Udupi, Apr 28: Karnataka Lokayukta, Justice N Santosh Hegde, felt that the present day youth alone have the potential to build a value-based society by regulating corruption that is encompassing all walks of life. He was addressing the audience at the programme organized on the occasion of inaugurating Alangar Narayan Pai Memorial Suvarna Saudha built on the occasion of the golden jubilee celebrations of Perdoor high school on Wednesday April 27.
Hegde, who inaugurated the building, lamented the fact that the people, who donate large sums of money earned through illegal means, are invited on the dais and felicitated. “The students of today can transform the society. We can get rid of this scourge if the youngsters pledge to oust corruption from the society,” he stressed.
Kaup MLA, Lalaji R Mendon, presided. Manipal University chancellor, Dr Ramdas M Pai, inaugurated Dr Madhav Pai Stadium, and unveiled the bust of Dr T M A Pai. Pro chancellor of Manipal University, Dr H S Ballal, thanked the significant donors for the golden jubilee celebrations. Dr B R Shetty, managing director of New Medical Centre Group, Abu Dhabi, inaugurated Bannampalli Raghav Hegde Memorial Open Air Sports Stage, while former minister, K Jayaprakash Hegde, inaugurated ‘Suvarna Sambhrama’. Taranga Weekly executive director, Sandhay Pai, released ‘Suvarna Sambhrama’ souvenir brought out on the occasion.
Manipal Academy of General Education administrative officer, Dr H Shantaram, Golden Jubilee Celebrations Committee honorary president, Dr M R Hegde, and secretary, H S Ganesh Bhat, were present. On this occasion, Justice Hegde felicitated Dr Ramdas M Pai, who was recently conferred with doctorate.
President of the committee, Dr A Manoranjandas Hegde, welcomed. Working president, K Shantaram Sooda, delivered introductory address. Joint secretary, Udayanand Bhandary, presented the programme. Joint secretary, Manjunath Sherigar, proposed the vote of thanks.
