Udupi: Bike Rider Dies in Road Accident

Udupi, Apr 27: Prashant Jattanna (33), who was riding a motor bike, was killed in an accident involving his motor bike and a car. The accident occurred near the fisheries school at Malpe on the afternoon of Tuesday April 26.

Prashant was the son of Aitappa Suvarna, living near Shaniswhar Mandir in Malpe Padukare. Sumitra, his wife, who was riding on the pillion, suffered severe injuries.

The couple was going to see the recently-born child of a friend living in Udupi. Both were seriously injured in the accident, and Prashant died after reaching the hospital. On the same morning, two drivers had been grievously injured after a rickshaw tempo and a Tata Ace vehicle collided with each other.

Prashant was the bread winner for his family. He was working for a fishing boat. He also was an accomplished theatre actor, having worked in a number of plays presented by Lakumi troupe from Mangalore, and some plays performed by the local artistes. He was a jovial person, a sports enthusiast, good organizer, and volunteer in a number of social service organizations.
