Kundapur, Apr 27: In an incident that occurred at Abbimakki village under Siddapur gram panchayat in the taluk on the night of Monday April 25, a fight that erupted between the father and son duo culminated in the killing of the father.

While Narayan Shetty (51) from the said village died, his son, Santosh Shetty (38), got admitted into the government hospital here with multiple injuries.

It is said that Narayan Shetty, a habitual drunkard, used to fight with his wife, sons, and daughters after returning home every day. He used to deal with them violently, and at times, beat them up and drove them out of his home. When this sordid act got repeated once again on Monday night, Santosh Shetty retaliated and condemned his father. Angered Narayan Shetty then took a knife and injured his son on his chest, arm, and thigh. Santosh says that unable to bear the agony of these injuries, he pushed his father hard, at which Narayan Shetty fell to the ground in the courtyard and lost his life.

Narayan Shetty is survived by wife, three sons, and three daughters. Ratnavati Shetty, wife of the deceased, filed a report in this connection at Shankarnarayana police station.

Local riccle inspector, Madan G Gaonkar, and Shankarnarayana sub-inspector, Jayant, visited the spot. Post mortem was conducted at Siddapur primary health centre.
