Mangalore: Coast Experiences Good Rain, Cloudy Weather

Mangalore, Apr 27: Sullia and surrounding places received heavy rain on Tuesday April 26. Because of strong breeze that accompanied rain, a number of name boards of shops and establishments were blown away. Sullia town looked like slushy field because of dug up streets on account of the ongoing road expansion programme. Thunder and lightning were also experienced in ample measure. Reports of large number of arecanut, rubber, and banana trees having been razed to the ground have come in.

Many places in Dakshina Kannada district including the city received some rains, lightning and strong breeze on Tuesday evening. There was no rain in Udupi district except for occasional showers and cloudy weather. Subrahmanya also got good rain along with lightning and thunder. Beltangady, Puttur, Bantwal and some places in Mangalore taluk received some rain.

Lightning that struck a house owned by Sanjeeva Poojary from Kokrady village in Beltangady taluk on Monday night inflicted heavy damage. Because of cloudy climate, temperature rose during the day in coastal Karnataka.
