Kasargod, Apr 23: After the state police department received information that large quantities of explosives were being brought into various districts in the state from Tamil Nadu, checking of vehicles at border posts has been intensified. Orders have been issued to check all vehicles entering the states without fail.

In an operation conducted at the Lower Camp check post in Kumili located on Kerala – Tamil Nadu border on Thursday April 21, the policemen found huge cache of explosives being transported in a vehicle. The concerned were smuggling the explosives into Kerala in a bus, as they sensed that private vehicles would be subjected to close scrutiny. Mokraj (39), resident of K P Pette in Teni, Tamil Nadu, was arrested in this connection. The explosives were found in a Tamil lNadu state government bus.

During questioning, the arrested man said that the explosives were meant for use by stone quarry owners. The policemen doubt the truth of this statement. Elaborate investigation has begun about the purposes for which the explosives are being brought into the state in such large quantities.
