Bangalore: Lover Loses Love, Wife, and Eyesight

Bangalore, Apr 23: A youth, who is a native of Doddabanandawadi village in Mandya district and living in Induvalu village, lost his eyesight, after the brothers of his lover thrashed him so badly, that both his eyes were injured. In all likelihood, he may not see light again. The incident occurred at Channapatna on Wednesday April 20.

Raghu, who runs a gymnasium in Girinagar in the city, and Anusha, were reportedly in love with each other since the last four years. The two are said to have married in a temple two weeks back. The girl’s parents and relatives were against this alliance. The bride, who returned to her parents on the basis of their assurance that she would be married to Raghu in a traditional function later, did not return to live with him. It is also gathered that Anusha was unable to adjust to the lifestyle of Raghu. After Raghu complained to the district superintendent of police about the fact that his wife was not being allowed to come back to him, they closed the case, as Anusha denied she was ever in love with Raghu. Raghu was also made to sign a bond stating that he was wrong.

Raghu says he was invited to the re-marriage of his fiancée, conducted about two weeks after her first marriage with him, on Wednesday. Before he could reach the venue, Anusha’s brothers stopped and beat him up indiscriminately, he claims. Raghu is being treated in a hospital. In the meanwhile, the accused have gone into hiding.
