International Women’s Day: Celebration of our Unsung Heroes

March 8, 2024

“Women should be celebrated every day… It doesn’t just honour the iconic women who have changed history, but encourages new generations to dream big and know that anything is possible.” Says Molly McCook.

On International Women’s Day we highlight those noteworthy women all the way from Marie Curie, the pioneer in Radioactivity, to modern figures like Dr Fei-Fei-Li, in the division of Artificial Intelligence.

In the corporate world, we cannot talk about women without mentioning Indra Nooyi, the former Chairman and CEO of PepsiCo, whose autobiography “My Life in Full: Work, Family and Our Future” still serves as an inspiration to millions. Followed by Susan Wojcicki, CEO of YouTube, who is the driving force behind its growth and success.

In social change, Malala Yousafzai, Pakistani education activist, who after surviving a Taliban assassination attempt, continued to fight for girl’s education. Next up, Rosa Parks, often called “Mother of the Civil Rights Movement” due to her act of refusing to give up her seat on the bus to a white man in Montgomery, Alabama, illuminating a wave of protests which ended racial segregation.

What about care taking? On top of that list being Mother Teresa, Catholic nun and missionary, who having borne no children has still become a mother to all today. Seconded by none other than Angelina Jolie, American actress and filmmaker, who despite her 3 children found space in her heart and family for 3 more angels.

These are just a few examples but I am sure if you peek into any segment of the world, you will always find women excelling in their craft. Happy International Women’s Day to the incredible women who have shaped our lives thus far and let us continue to empower and uplift many more!
