Kasargod, Apr 20: After performing a number of successful shows in the past Kevin Misquith & the Milestone music band will present their 13th concert at Kayyar on Sunday April 24. The show has been organized by the ICYM unit of the parish.
During the former shows the band has gained good response and feedback from the audience. The team has been successful in giving a new dimension to Konkani music nites with young and energetic talent under the boot; they have tried to be different than the regular shows with prolific performers in the band.
The shows of the band have been well accepted and appreciated by the audience.
“Though we have been getting good response for our shows, we are facing financial hiccups to organize our shows in various parts and also the album we had been making is lacking behind due to financial problems, most of the members of our team are still students and music is just a passion to us and not for any monetary purpose hence we have to depend upon the good will of the Konkani music lovers and our well wishers. Hereby we request our well wishers to support and encourage us in our endeavor of producing good quality Konkani music consistently”, says Kevin Misquith.
He also requested more number of Konkani associations and parishes to provide them with an opportunity to perform at their place.
About Kevin Misquith
Kevin Misquith, the lead vocalist and the main force behind the formation of Milestone band, has emerged as a singer and composer of repute in Konkani music world performing consistently over a period of time to find a niche in Konkani music world. He emerged on the Konkani music scene with the release of his Konkani debut album “Rupnem” in 2004.
Following the success of the first album he released another Konkani album “Tuji Yaad” in 2007, which became a hit to reaffirm his credibility as an emerging and talented Konkani music performer. Emboldened by the good response, Kevin released his third album “He Jeen” in 2008, which has also elicited good response both from Konkani and Non-Konkani music lovers. “He Jeen” album was nominated for the Global Konkani Music awards and won the “best lyricist” award at the competition. Kevin has also staged several music shows in the last few years winning accolades and admiration from Konkani music lovers.
Milestone
Kevin Misquith formed the music band “Milestone” in 2009 along with co-founder Ashwin Sequeira and is recognized as the most youthful and talented band consisting of an enthusiastic bunch of young musicians who are determined to give a totally new genre of Konkani music to music enthusiasts. The band has regaled the audience with their zestful performance ranging from soft ballads, disco, rock, pop, folk fusion and foot-tapping baila numbers, with a touch of costal flavor.
Kevin Misquith and Milestone have performed a series of concerts in Mangalore, Udupi and Bangalore and are will soon perform in other parts of the country also. Though the band does not want language to be a barrier, they say their first priority is always to promote Konkani music. Konkani music on the west coast of India is the soul of our band.
Ashwin Sequeria, the co-founder of the band, is the lead guitarist and also lends his voice to the melody of the band. He is a mechanical engineer and lecturer by profession.
Jackson Noronha, another young lad from Mangalore is the man on the keys, he plays the guitar and is also a versatile singer.
Patson Pereira, is the drummer, hailing from family of musicians he started with music at a very young age he not only plays the drums but is also familiar with various other instruments, his voice also adds to the magic of the band.
Royston Pinto, the vocalist of the band, he is also a good musician, well versed in playing the guitar and keyboard. Royston has won prizes at various levels for his soulful voice.
The band is coming up with a project to promote our music and reach the masses of konkani across the west coast of India With the vision of taking our music to the masses, promoting literature/poetry through our music, keeping alive the music culture in konkani, specially targeting youth to be part of the konkani music and literature.
