Mumbai: Konkani Bhasha Mandal holds 80th anniversary and 30th Konkani Manyata Divas

Mumbai, Aug 22: The 80th anniversary of Konkani Bhasha Mandal Maharashtra and 30th Konkani Manyata Divas held at Dr Antonio D’ Silva high school auditorium, Dadar west on August 21 evening was inaugurated by Captain Thomas W Pinto.

Mumbai high court advocate Pius Vas and Seven island shipping company limited president Joseph D’ Souza were the guests of honour. Bhasha Mandal president John D’ Silva, vice president Albert W D’ Souza, executive president Henry Lobo, honorary secretary Lawrence D’ Souza Kamani, joint secretary John R Pereira and treasurer Walter D’ Souza were on the dais.

Bhasha Mandal executive committee member, social worker Benedicta B Rebello honoured the guests.

Large number of Konkani speaking people including member Pascal Lobo were present. Members and children performed dances, songs and variety entertainments.

John D’ Silva welcomed. Albert W D’ Souza and Tony Martin introduced the guests. Joint treasurer Cyril Castelino, Glancita Fernandes, Levin Fernandes, Pritesh Castelino, Reshma Goveas, Renita Goveas and Veronica D’ Souza presented flower bouquets to the guests. Valeria D’ Souza read the letter of felicitation. Leo Fernandes Jerimeri and Francis Olivera compered the programme. Lawrence D’ Souza Kamani rendered a vote of thanks.
