Udupi: Youth Arrested - Pistol, Live Bullets Seized

Udupi, Apr 12: The district crime intelligence bureau (DCIB) police led by Sampath Kumar arrested a youth named Ivan Richard Mascarenhas (39), a resident of Moodu Thonse while he was carrying a pistol and live bullets in his bike from Udupi to Udyavar on Monday April 11 morning.

Acting on a tip off, the police arrested him while inspecting vehicles near Balayi Pade. During the interrogation, he revealed to police that it was supplied to him by a person hailing from Uttar Pradesh. Richard was an accused in an abduction case in the year 2008  which is still being heard at the local court.

Hafta Collector

It is gathered that Richard was ready to do anything for money though he never identified himself with any gang. In this case too he was on his way to collect Hafta from an entrepreneur. He had carried pistol to threaten him if the said entrepreneur refused to obey his demand.
