Mangalore, Apr 11: Laxmi Memorial College of Nursing observed World Health Day 2011 at the conference hall of A J Hospital and Research Centre here, recently.
It was organized by the staffs of medical surgical nursing and fundamentals of nursing department.
The programme was inaugurated by the dignitaries present on the dais. Diana Lobo, associate professor of Laxmi Memorial College of Nursing welcomed the gathering. Dr Shrikala Baliga, professor and HOD of micro-biology, KMC, Attavar was the chief guest and said that “Its time now not only to make strategies but to start with compliance, which is the only way to combat drug resistance.
Professor Larissa Martha Sams, principal of Laxmi Memorial College of Nursing delivered the keynote address on the theme this year – ‘Combat drug resistance: no action today, no cure tomorrow’. Dr Amitha Marla, administrative director of A J Hospital and Research Centre presided.
Shambavi, assistant professor gave away the vote of thanks. The programme was followed by a panel discussion by the second year Msc Nursing, medical surgical nursing speciality students on the World Health Day 2011 theme. Lavita Divya Sequeira, assistant lecturer compered the whole programme.
