Recruitment exam results for 15,000 teacher posts by month-end, appointments by October

Bengaluru, Aug 8: Primary and Secondary Education Minister B C Nagesh, who completed one year after heading the Education Department on Sunday, has announced that the results of the examinations held for recruiting 15,000 teachers to fill up the vacancies in government schools will be published by the end this month and expressed the hope of releasing the appointment lists by the end of October.

The minister, who has come out with a progress report of his one-year tenure in Bengaluru on Monday, said a total of 8,101 classrooms in government schools and colleges were being constructed.

Claiming that he has made honest efforts to bring reforms, changes and development in the Education Department, Nagesh listed out his achievements including steps for implementing the National Education Policy (NEP).

The minister said the department has done its best to meet the requirements of students and also of teachers despite the setbacks due to Covid pandemic.

Highlights of last 1 year:

• Enhancement of honorarium to Guest Lecturers by Rs 3,000
• Increase in honorarium of Guest Teachers by Rs 2,500
• Akshara Dasoha Mid-day meal employees honorarium increased by Rs 1,000
• 3,708 Guest Lecturers for PUC colleges during 2022-23
• Eggs/Banana/Chikki distribution under Pradhan Mantri Poshan Shakti Abhiyan along with mid-day meal for students of classes 1 to 8
• Permission for utilizing MLAs Area Development Fund for purchase of vehicles for transport of government school students
• Waiver of admission fee for PUC girl students in government PUC colleges
• Fulfilment of several demands of teachers including promotion
• Transfer of over 23,000 teachers through counselling
• Promotions to government primary school teachers based on service
• Permission granted for filling up vacant teacher posts in aided schools as of December 31, 2015 to enable filling up of over 2,000 posts
