Mangaluru, Aug 8: As the country prepares for its 75th celebration of Independence, an ecumenical seminar on the theme 'Christian Youth in Nation Building' was held at CSI Shanthi Nilaya Hall Balmata Mangaluru on August 7.
Roy Castelino, PRO of Mangalore diocese spoke on the theme and enumerated the various ways where we can join hands in building this great nation. He spoke one the challenges our country faces and the responsibility of youth at the grass root level. His presentation was very inspiring.
Maxim Noronha, vicar general diocese of Mangalore delivered greetings and blessings. Prabhuraj, chairman of CSI - KSD DK Area Council led the prayer for the nation.
Rupesh Madtha, the secretary Mangalore Christian Council and Diocesan Ecumenical Commission welcomed the speaker and the guests. Dr Sandeep Theophil Secretary for Mangalore Christian Council and Ivan Dsouza, head of the chair in Christianity in Mangalore University coordinated the programme. CSI Kanthi youths led the praise and worship which created the vibes of devotion. Lancy Carlo Bendur parish with the team came out with an out of the box idea to make the youth learn band in ten minutes and conducted the band and music which impressed many youth.
There was a Question-Answer session at the end.
Anil Dsa Kulshekar compèred the event and proposed the vote of thanks. Manoj Yuvan, pastor at Marthoma Church Falnir led the concluding prayer. Adrian Deepak, associate presbyter was present.
Refreshment was served in the beginning.
The programme was organised by Mangalore Christian Council in association with Mangalore diocesan Ecumenical Commission, All Karnataka United Christian Forum for Human Rights (Western Zone), CSI-KSD, DK Area Council and chair in Christianity, Mangalore University.
Around 200 youth, men, women and pastors from various mainline churches like Catholic, CSI, Marthoma, Orthodox Malankara, Syro Malabar and Syro Malankara, from in and around Mangaluru and even from far places participated in the event.
