Sirsi, Apr 6: Dr D Veerendra Heggade, Dharmadhikari of Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala and honorary president of Jana Jagrati Vedike urged the youth not to become the victims of ill-habits.
Dr Heggade was speaking after accepting the ‘Sayyama Award – 2011’ by state Madhyapana Sayyama Mandali, during a function held at Sahyadri Ranga Mandir, here on Tuesday April 5.
Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala Rural Development Project (SKDRDP) had the challenge of alleviating ill-habits when embarked on rural development. The de-addiction camps were held by Jana Jagrati Vedike in this regard. It has organized 401 de-addiction camps and over 29,000 people have found new life by partaking in it. The de-addiction camps are meant for all sections of society, regardless of poor and backward classes. The general awareness on ill-habits were also created among the school and college students, said Dr Heggade.
The state education minister Vishveshvar Hegade Kageri commended the programmes of SKDRDP led by Dr Heggade in reforming the society, rid of ill-habits among the individuals.
Western Ghats Task Force president Anant Hegade, DC B S Krishnayya, Mandali secretary H B Dinesh, ZP chief executive officer Vijay Mohanaraj, Jana Jagrati Vedike founder president K Vasant Salian, district president Saja Radhakrishna Alva, Pratapsimha Nayak and others were present at the occasion.
