Mangalore: St Joseph's Kala Sangam Organizes Annual Cricket Tourney

Mangalore, Apr 6:  St Joseph's Kala Sangam, a group of sportive and talented youths of Jeppu parish, conducted the annual cricket tournament for men and women, recently.

 

It was a limited over match with five overs for men’s game and three overs for women and had three stages of league, semi-final and final.

Many teams form the parish actively participated in the tournament which made the organizers to increase the number of boy’s team to 24 and girl’s team to 6.

The tournament attracted various people of different casts and was an out shining example of Christian , Hindu and Muslim bonhomie.

The sports man spirit showed by players and organizers was outstanding. Jeppu parish team won the finals in men's category and Ajay Carriera grabbed the Best Batsman, Best Bowler and Man of the Tournament awards.

In Women’s category Milagres parish team won the final and Jane D'Souza got the best Batswoman and Woman of the Tournament awards.  Talapady parish team was the runners-up in men’s group and same title was won by permanur parish team in women’s group.

The prize distributing ceremony was a grand affair attended and cheered by a huge gathering. The vicar of Jeppu Prish Fr Leo Andrew D'Souza, Philanthrapist Benny teacher, Santhosh Sequeira and corporators Jascintha Alfred graced the occasion and offered good wishes and blessings to all players and members of organizing committee.
