Mangalore, Apr 5: A workshop on 'Investment Management' organized by St Aloysius Institute of Management and Information Technology (AIMIT), was inaugurated on Tuesday April 5 at the AIMIT campus, as an add-on programme for the second year MBA students. The course provides knowledge in investment planning to the students.
Shawn Pereira, staff co-coordinator for the programme welcomed the gathering. Gerald Colaco (chief guest) and the resource person inaugurated the workshop by lighting the lamp. Fr Denzil Lobo, director AIMIT, Fr (Dr) Oswald Mascarenhas, chairman, MBA programmes and Shawn Pereira were present on the dais.
Gerald Colaco gave an insight on the sessions to follow. Fr Denzil Lobo cited the example of Warren Buffet who started investing at the young age of 11 years and went on to become the richest person in the world in 2008. He also mentioned that Warren Buffet has pledged 99% of his wealth in philanthropy. Fr Lobo encouraged students to inculcate the attitude of frugal living and of giving. He also stressed the importance of investing early in life.
Fr (Dr) Oswald Mascarenhas stressed on the importance of going in for patience investment and especially emphasised the need for investing in oneself.
The ceremony culminated with the vote of thanks proposed by Rohith N R.
