Udupi: Friends Turn Robbers for Drunken Man

Udupi, Apr 5: A youth, who consumed excessive liquor and got heavily intoxicated, fell to the ground near KSRTC bus stand here. It is said that his friends who were accompanying him at the time, took away gold ornaments found on his body.

Shivaram Poojary from Brahmavar in the taluk had come to the town on Monday April 4  evening. After consuming an overdose of liquor in a bar near the bus stand here with his friends, Poojary came to the bus stand for returning home, but fell unconscious there. Some eyewitnesses said that making use of the opportunity, his friends removed his gold chain, ring etc, and went away.

Thereafter, the policemen arrived and shifted him in an ambulance to the government hospital. Some claim that the friends had urged Poojary to consume additional liquor with the specific purpose of robbing him.
