Kundapur: Lady Constable Attempts Suicide

Kundapur, Apr 5: Reportedly, a lady constable named Surekha, working in Amasebail police station in the taluk, tried to commit suicide by drinking phenyl in the toilet attached to the police station. The incident occurred on Saturday April 2 evening.

The constable in question was taken to the government hospital in Shankaranarayana for treatment. But, after realizing that a case would be registered, her colleagues are said to have shifted her into a private hospital there. It is said that she had fallen in love with another policemen during training in Dharwad, but the youth had later spurned her advances.

After coming on transfer from Shankararayana police station, a policemen, who is already married and working here, is learnt to have been pestering her for love. Frustrated, Surekha tried to commit suicide, sources say.
