Mangalore, Apr 4: A student, who was travelling to Doha from the international airport here, was arrested on Sunday April 3, after finding a round of ammunition in his possession. The student, named Mohammed Sabik (26) from Talangare near Kasargod, was carrying the ammunition in his purse.
Mohammed had arrived at the local airport on Sunday morning to travel to Doha by the Sunday morning flight of Air India Express. During security check, the personnel found ammunition in his purse.
Mohammed, a MBA student in Qatar, lives in Qatar with his parents since the last two decades, the airport personnel said. He is reported to have explained that those who remit 75 rials, are provided with 25 rounds of ammunition at Police Shooting Training Centre in Qatar, and that he had kept one of these rounds in his possession. He allegedly said that while coming to India from Qatar, he had kept the ammunition in his suitcase. He had come to visit his relatives in Kerala through Kozhikode airport.
He was handed over to Bajpe police station. The policemen registered a case and produced him in a court of law.
