Mangalore, Apr 2: Speaking to reporters during a brief stop over at the local airport enroute to Sringeri on Friday April 1, former Prime Minister and JDS supremo, H D Deve Gowda, said that the high command appears to be non-existent in BJP. “Low command rules the roost in that party. Otherwise, why would the leadership of any party have remained mute spectators to the massive scams involving the party’s government in the state?” he wondered.
Gowda is on a visit to Sringeri along with his wife, for participating in a special worship being organized there today.
“I have genuine doubt as to whether there is a high command in the BJP, and if it is functioning, whether it has any say in the party. The corrupt practices of Yeddyurappa-led government are so grave, that the leadership of any other party would have acted against the Chief Minister. BJP used to have some ethics and morality when people like Shyamprasad and Vajpayee were in the top leadership. Party president, Nitin Gadkari, is not at all bothered about ethics and high principles,” he felt.
Deve Gowda claimed that BJP leader, L K Advani, is not happy with the continuance of Yeddyrappa at the state’s helm. He felt that Advani is suffering this agony in silence, as he hopes to realize his dream of rising to become the Prime Minister of the country one day.
Gowda said that during his electioneering in Channapatna assembly constituency, where by poll is being held, he had seen a definite tilt of the electorate in favour of the JDS. While asserting that he is confident of the party’s victory there, he confessed that he had not visited the other two constituencies, where too by elections are being held.
He extended hearty wishes to the Indian cricket team for victory in the finals of the World Cup, duly adding that he had participated in a puja organized at Bangalore for the team’s victory.
