Mangalore: Police Arrest Bookie for Betting on Indo-Pak Semi-final Match

Mangalore, Mar 31: The city police on Wednesday March 30 arrested one person for allegedly engaging in betting activities on India versus Pakistan World Cup semi-final match that was held at Mohali.

Ullal police arrested Rajesh Kulal, a resident of Ombattukere, near Ullal, here on Wednesday March 30 at around 8 pm. He was believed to be a local bookie actively involved in betting on the results of the semi-final clash. The police have recovered Rs 10,000 in cash from the accused.

Anticipating betting activities ahead of the much-awaited match, the police had done some groundwork on the matter. Accordingly, they raided many restaurants and lodgings. The raids discouraged prospective betting enthusiasts to a certain extent.
