Mumbai, Mar 31 (IANS): Thane on the outskirts of Mumbai is the most populous district of India with over 1.1 crore (11 million) people, according to the latest census figures, released Thursday.
The district in north Maharashtra has a total population of 11.54 million and is closely followed by North 24 Parganas in West Bengal with 1.08 million people.
The two districts with least population are both in Arunachal Pradesh - the Dibang Valley and Anjaw. The Dibang Valley has 7,948 people and Anjaw has 21,089.
