Daijiworld Media Network – Chikmagalur (SP)

Chikmagalur, Mar 31: Reportedly, a popular mathematics teacher serving at Rudramuneeshwara High School of Rambhapuri Mutt in Balehonnur, could not be saved because of cricket fever that has spread to all walks of life. He has been identified as Kallodimutt.

Kallodimutt was a teacher who was liked by the students. At around 7 pm on Wednesday, he complained of chest pain. As his family members suspected it to be heart attack, he was taken to Balehonnur government hospital. But the doctor on duty was not available, and no one knew his whereabouts.

As the doctors of the private clinics in the town too had switched off their mobile phones for watching India-Pakistan cricket match, they could not be contacted. It was decided to take him to the government hospital in Jayapura, some distance away. But, he breathed his last while being taken there.

Kallodimutt is survived by wife and a baby boy.

The height of madness on a useless sport. Imagine if someone has to deliver a baby and the surgeon waiting for the cricket crazy aneasthetist. The whole India is suffering from the cricket evil. The Indian economy is affected a lot due to the game. It is like Lotto and gambling. People are distracted due the hype on the media and importance given to the game as well as players. At a given point of time and day if just 10% of Indians are watching cricket means the 10% productivity is stopped for the entire day. Now calculate the number of cricket matches played in a year and the number of people not attending work on the cricket day and then you will realize why I call it an evil for the Indian economy. I was in Melbourne on the day India played with Australia but not much rush at places where projectors and TV were playing cricket match. India is the only country where they call cricket as a religion and religion is the only reason India is not developed as compared to other Asian countries.

Dr. K. Krishnamurthy, Chickmagalur is around 50 kms far from Balehonnur and it may take around 2 hours to reach there. The patient could not live upto Jayapura which is only 15 kms. I have visited this hospital when I was small, no wonder such things can happen there. Very sad news. I saw yesterday people of India treated the cricket match as war against 26/11 attacks and they celebrated all over India. It is good to watch and celebrate but not at this cost.
