Kundapur: Jeep Accident – Cow Pelts Found

Kundapur, Mar 31: On Wednesday March 30 afternoon, an accident occurred between a jeep and water tanker on Koni Hunsemakki Bridge near here. Three persons including the jeep driver were injured in the accident. It was found that the jeep was loaded with bags containing cow pelts.

The water tanker was moving towards Basrur from the town, when its axle broke. It then hit a jeep coming from the opposite direction. Driver of the jeep, Jabbar Kody, and passengers, Ashfaq, and Masood, who were travelling in the jeep, were injured. They were admitted into a private hospital here. The front portion of the jeep was badly mangled, and vehicular movement on state highway was affected for some time. In the meanwhile, bags containing cow pelts were found in the jeep.

Over ten plastic bags containing cow pelts were in the jeep, and some of them fell on the road due to the impact of the accident. Reportedly, they were being transported illegally. The policemen, who cleared the road of the vehicles, have registered the accident case. They are also investigating the origin of the pelts.
