Puttur, Mar 31: After stock of old paper, waste materials etc, stored in a godown in Padil here caught fire accidentally on Wednesday March 30, the building as well as all the items stored therein were reduced into a heap of ash. The loss due to accident has been estimated at five lac rupees.

The fire brigade personnel and the people living in the vicinity worked to ensure that fire did not spread to nearby buildings. The building in question was owned by Baduva Kunhi.

A complaint about the accident was registered in the town police station here.
