Mangalore, Mar 30: The inauguration ceremony of United Christian Association’s (UCA) south zone was held at Lions Club, Konaje, here on Sunday March 27.
UCA president Alban Menezes handed over the log of UCA south zone to its president Pius Permannur here on Sunday.
UCA vice-president Joe Rego, secretary Vincent D’Cunha, city lawyer Benedict Noronha, Maurice Mascarenhas Puttur, Robert Ozario Kinnigoli and Sylvester Sastan were present.
Alban Menezes said that money is the thirst of the day which makes human most inhuman. Offerings should be made to God on the altar only after forgiveness. UCA has the objective to fight for their fundamental rights, he added.
Robert Ozario said that he witnessed many things which he never thought of. It was a real pity to what priests’ say and how they act in life and with the people, he regretted.
Sylvester briefed on the new constitution of Mangalore diocesan Bishop.
Maurice explained why associations are the need of the hour to address the grievances of Christian community.
Jeevan Vas said that UCA is not against any priest, bishop or any parish. They are only fighting for justice as their fundamental right that has been grounded by diocesan authorities in order to resolve them at the earliest.
UCA extended financial help of Rs 15,000 to a polio victim Roydon on the occasion.
