Beltangady, Mar 30: The use of solar energy should not be restricted to urban areas. The solar energy that reaches to rural people living in remote villages would bring new hope into their lives, said Dr D Veerendra Heggade, dharmadhikari of Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala.
Dr Heggade was speaking after inaugurating the solar energy unit that was installed at Dharmasthala, here on Wednesday March 30 at the aegis of Halloran Philanthropies, USA, Selco Solar and Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala Rural Development Project (SKDRDP). None of the nations in the world know much about solar energy than the Indians. The ancestors of Indians were worshiping the sun as a universal energy source. Sun, moon and planets are the focus of modern science, he observed.
Selco Solar proprietor Harish Hande expressed his hope that the pilgrims who arrive from all over the country to Sri Kshetra Dharmasthal, here would be educated on the benefits of solar energy unit that was set up in Dharmasthala, here which can be utilized to run water treatment plants, for lighting and charging mobile handsets and other uses.
Renowned environmentalist Denis Hayna and senior researcher Anand Narayan among others were present.
