Mangalore, Mar 30: The second additional chief judicial magistrate’s court here has instructed the city south policemen to investigate a private complaint filed by Dakshina Kannada and Udupi Fish Cooperative Marketing Federation against its marketing officer, Hemaraj, and former president, Gangadhar Suvarna.
In its private complaint, the federation had alleged that the above two persons had defrauded the federation to the tune of over Rs 12 lac.
Reportedly, Hemaraj had functioned as diesel marketing officer of the federation from 2004 to 2008. Gangadhar Suvarna was the federation president between 1999 and 2009. Allegedly, the two created fake records in the form of diesel credits, by registering boats that were nonexistent. During the government audit, this discrepancy was found, and in some cases, funds remitted by customers were not remitted to the federation. In the ledger accounts of mechanized boats which received diesel credits, the amount that was higher than the actual amount was found to have been mentioned. These frauds were proved during the internal auditing too.
It is said that Hamaraj has since filed a confession with the federation, but has not reimbursed the loss. The federation had registered a private complaint in the court hear through lawyer, P P Hegde.
