Udupi, Mar 30: Unidentified thieves barged into a flat located in Lakshmeendra Nagar here and took away gold and silver valuables worth over five lac rupees.

The house in question is the residence of Vamshikrishna from Andhra Pradesh, who works as lecturer in KMC Manipal. He lives in Balaji Residency. He had left for his native place about ten days back and his house was burgled in his absence. About 260 grams of gold ornaments and a kilogram of silver ornaments have been stolen by the thieves.

It is learnt that the thieves also entered the neighbouring flat, but could not get any valuables there. On a complaint filed by Anil Kumar, friend of Vamshikrishna, a complaint was registered in Manipal police station. The policemen visited the spot and began investigation.
