Mangalore: Rain in Subrahmanya, Lightning Strikes Woman at Ajekar

Mangalore, Mar 30: Most locations within Karkala taluk received rains coupled with lightning and thunder on Tuesday March 29. In addition to Karkala town, Hebri, Bajagoly, Shirlalu, Ajekar, etc too got good rains. The intensity of rains was comparatively more in Muniyal, Kervashe, Mala, Bajagoly and some other regions.

Lalita (40) from Bondukumeri in Ajekar, was hit by lightning on Tuesday evening, when she was sitting in the portico of her house. She was admitted into a private hospital in semi-conscious state. She is since recovering.

Subrahmanya, Kadaba, and nearby places too received good rains for about an hour on Tuesday, as a result of which, power supply got severed, and telephone lines fell dead. Ramakunja, Alankar, Kuntoor, Kodimbala, Mardhala, Nettana and Bilinele villages too got good rains. A man named Shamsuddin (20) from Kodimbady village, who fell unconscious due to lightning, was admitted into a hospital. He was engaged in construction activity in Subrahmanya when lightning struck him.

Because of heavy rains, people from Subrahmanya and nearby places confined themselves indoors during this period. A few places received hailstorms too. Many other places in Sullia taluk also experienced lightning and rains on Tuesday evening. Some villages in Beltangady taluk got light showers.

No loss to life or property has so far been reported because of rains.
