Mangaluru/ Udupi, Jul 20: Dakshina Kannada on Wednesday July 20, reported 8 new coronavirus cases while Udupi also added 8 cases.

The total number of positive cases in the Dakshina Kannada district has risen to 1,36,064 out of which 70 are currently active. As many as five patients were discharged on July 20.

No deaths were reported on July 20. The death toll in the district so far stands at 1,852.

The district administration has urged people to strictly continue maintaining social distance in public places and wear masks when stepping out of the house. Anyone not wearing a mask would be fined by the authorities.

Positivity rate for the day stood at 0.95 percent.

So far, the district administration has collected Rs 1,16,05,880 as fine in 96,212 incidents of mask violation.

Udupi

Eight coronavirus cases were reported on July 20. The total active Covid cases are 23.

10 patients were discharged on July 20.

A total of 10,89,367 people have received the first dose of vaccination and 10,79,946 have received both doses and 1,44,082 people have received booster doses.

Udupi taluk reported 4 cases, while Kundapur and Karkala added 2 cases each.
