Bangalore: CCB Sleuths Arrest Two Ravi Poojary Associates

Bangalore, Mar 28: The personnel of the central crime branch (CCB) here have succeeded in arresting two close associates of underworld fugitive, Ravi Poojary. The other three succeeded in giving the policemen a slip, after brandishing their pistols and posing death threats.

The arrested persons have been identified as Ganesh Bangera (35), a resident of Bhagawati Bhandara House, Haleangady near Mangalore, and Lokesh Kumar (30), from Gandodi House in Bantwal taluk. The names of those who escaped in the operation have been given as Yeda Vasant, Cocaine Harish, and Venu.

The arrested persons and the three who fled, had reportedly gathered in front of the Mico factory in Naganathpura within Parappana Agrahara police station limits here, for drawing a sketch to rob a merchant and eliminate him thereafter. On the basis of the information they got access to, assistant commissioner of police, B N Nyama Gowda, inspectors, Siddappaa nd K S nagaraju, as well as other personnel, succeeded in getting hold of two of them. During interrogation, the policemen found that the conspiracy was hatched in connivance of Munishraju Shetty, a jail inmate.

Ganesh Bangera is stated to be the brother of Kali Yogesh, a close associate of Ravi Poojary. Kali Yogesh, who faces robbery attempt cases in the city, is holed up in Australia now. Lokesh faces a number of cases including those relating to the muder of Vamajoor Rohi in Mangalore, and a theft case in Beltangady.
