Fujairah, March 27: South Canara Families and Friends Fujairah, U A E celebrated their Second Annual sports and Fun day at Fujairah ‘Ain Al Madhab’ National Park, Fujairah here on Friday March 25th 2011.
It was a daylong event of fun and frolic for the Families. The event began with the prayer by Moulana Sakhafi. Senior members and sports president Ahmed Basheer, Chief Guest Haneef Kaup and Manniappan inaugurated the event.
Children took a running lap around the ground along with balloons and declared the sports meet open. The sports day began with the general knowledge and Islamic quiz for children’s and adults. Running race organized for children below five years, all children took part in the games enthusiastically. Then games such as lemon in spoon race, one Leg Race, shot put events were held for men and women.
As the day progressed the events for seniors were organized. Events for senior began with 100mts race for men and women. A cookery competition for ladies was held were participants had prepared delicious homemade Mangalorean dishes. For seniors above 35 years there was walking race which was participated by all with great enthusiasm.
Sameer, general secretary, thanked the entire guest who joined the celebration. Uchil Abdul Hameed, president, South Canara Families and Friends, Fujairah Beary’s Association, Tayeb Hussein, Rafiq, Ismail senior members of the group, Ashfaque, Zakir, Farook, Nisar Ahmed, Thanseer and Azeem, Executive members of the group were also present.
Delicious lunch was served with mouth- watering. After the lunch session, events like one leg ace, 100mts race, blind folded break the Pot were held followed by group games like kabbadi, tug of war, dog and the bone. The highlight of the evening was the tug-of-war event, which was also the last event of the day. There were three teams participating for the cup.
Haneef Kaup, Auditor BCF Dubai ans Abdul Rahman, Chief Guest of the evening Sameer, Executive member gave a vote of thanks to all the participants and all the members for a successful event. He requested the members to come forward with suggestions to improve and make the South Canara Families and Friends Fujairah UAE a strong association taking the path forward. Prizes were distributed before the conclusion of the event.
