Mysore: Four Killed in Ghastly Road Accident

Mysore, Mar 25: In an accident that occurred at Chunchanakatte near Saligrama in K R Nagar taluk in the district on Thursday March 24, four persons including two children lost their lives.

The deceased are Mahadeva (32), son of Tamme Gowda from Nadappanahalli, his sister, Manjula (29), and Manjula’s children, Dhanushree (3) and Yashoda (nine months).

A bus belonging to a Adichunchagiri school in Chunchanakatte hit the motor bike in which Manjula was moving with her brother and children for getting treatment for her children, from behind.  Both the vehicles were moving on a slope at the time of the accident. The impact of the collision was so strong, that all the four were killed on the spot.

The villagers from surrounding places, who gathered at the site, started pelting stoning the bus, damaging it extensively in the process. The policemen later resorted to lathi charge to disperse the angry mob. Various police officials and political leaders tried to pacify the angry villagers. MLA, Sa Ra Mahesh promised to disburse a sum of Rs 3 lac as compensation to the family immediately, and instructed the policemen and administration to help the family get  compensation from the government at the earliest. After this, the people relented.
