Udupi, Mar 24: "The coastal district has seen rapid progress due to the industrialization in the country. It’s due to the overseas contacts that Indian products are making its presence in the international markets," said Dr B Surendra Rao, retired history professor, Mangalore University.
Dr Rao was speaking after inaugurating a two-day national conference on "Karnataka’s Overseas Communication and Trade Through the Centuries" at Mulki Sunder Ram Shetty (MSRS) College, Shirva, near here, on Thursday March 24.
Shirva Vidhyavardaka Sangh correspondent K Rajaram Shetty, in his presidential address, said that Indian industry and trade flourished due to globalization.
College principal Professor Y Bhaskar Shetty welcomed the gathering. Supreetha Shetty and Sandeep Shetty compered the programme. Vice-principal Dr Sudhakar Marla proposed the vote of thanks.
