Mangalore, Mar 23: In the PU examinations held in Dakshina Kannada district, 714 candidates remained absence. On Tuesday, examination was conducted for economics, and out of 20,027 who had registered their names, 19,313 appeared. Perhaps for the first time in the history of PU exams in the district, a case of impersonation was detected in an examination centre.
Three people, who were impersonating as genuine candidates and writing the examinations on their behalf, were apprehended from the examination centre in Kanyana government PU college near Vittal in Bantwal taluk. All the three were detected by the room invigilators and special vigilance cell officials.
Out of the three, one managed to escape by wriggling out of the hands of the officials. His name is given as Vikram, a student of a college in Puttur. Further details about him are being found out. Pradip Hebri and Murali Gauribidanur, students of Puttur Philomena College, and the third one named Vikram, who escaped, were writing the examinations in place of Shahul Ramid, Roshan, and Gurprasad, who had registered themselves as private candidates for the examination. Dakshina Kannada district in-charge director of PU College education, Ramesh S, visited the college.
On a complained made by Chandrappa G S, principal of the said college, a complaint was registered in this connection at Vittal police station. In all likelihood, the future of these three students will be in jeopardy, as such cases are viewed very seriously.
