Udupi, Jul 5: Several roads in the district are flooded due to incessant rain during the last two days. People living near the sea shore are anxious. Rain water has filled in the fields in low lying areas.
Holidays have been declared for schools and colleges. Rain water at Muloor and Kallianpur reached above sea level. There is fear of floods if the rain continues.
Road on both of the sides of NH66 at Karavali junction is inundated. Vehicle drivers and pedestrians are struggling to cross the road. The water in Uppoor river has crossed the danger mark and people on the banks of the river have expressed fear.
Artificial floods are created due to lack of drainage facilities at some of the low areas such as Udupi, Doddanagudde, Manipal, Peram, Parkala and Malpe.
Some of the houses at Moodanidambur of Udupi Bannaje are surrounded by water as it has filled on the roads. Municipal council officers visited the spots and took safety measures.
