Mangaluru/Udupi, Jul 5: As incessant rains are likely to lash the district, Dakshina Kannada deputy commissioner (DC) Dr K V Rajendra and Udupi DC Kurma Rao M declared a holiday on Tuesday July 5 for all the educational institutions.

As heavy rains are expected to lash the district, the DC declared a holiday for the educational institutions on Tuesday.

The holiday was declared keeping in mind the safety of students going to schools and colleges.

Udupi DC also declared a holiday for all schools and colleges including Anganwadi. All the private and government schools, colleges and degree colleges will remain close on Tuesday due to heavy rainfall which is expected.

Enjoying in rain, catching tiny fishes from flowing streams (thodu), making small ponds, wells and feeding these fishes, eating fried tamarind seeds in rainy season. Time flies so fast. Grown up different games and adventures then settle down. So make best use of time in life. Keep away from gossip, feeling and talking ill of others.     There was heavy rain yesterday. Could've informed last night itself. Most of the Children were sent back after they reached the school and colleges

    It is ridiculous to declare holiday for schools in the morning. Students are already on the way to school and parents are already on their job to send the children.

    If it is holiday, why can not Udupi DC declare earlier in the morning? With so much of weather forecasting available you have to wait till 8AM to declare holiday? The school buses are already en route school and parents on the way to their work, if you declare holiday in between, everyones daily schedule will be a mess.

    The weather forecast is given to them a day before, so declaring it on 635 am is equally stupid. Also parents should make a habit a watching news in the morning instead.
