Madikeri: Bus-Truck Collision – Over 14 Injured

Madikeri, Mar 22: After the driver of a truck loaded with cement bags lost control over his vehicle at Mekeri bend near here on Monday March 21 evening, over 14 persons were injured.

The truck was carrying the load of cement from Doddaballapur, it is gathered. The private bus, which suffered damages in the accident, was coming to Madikeri from Virajpet.

Bus driver, Muttappa, immediately arranged to carry the injured people to hospital through available vehicles. The truck driver and over 14 passengers of the bus were injured in the accident. Three of them were admitted into district hospital here. Out of them, the condition of Sumitra (70) is stated to be critical.

It is said that the truck driver escaped from the hospital after getting treatment. Madikeri rural police station sub-inspector, Srikant, visited the spot and registered a case. Investigation is on.
