Kundapur, Mar 22: Assistant director in the department of tourism, Prakash, and other officials visited the taluk on Monday March 21, and conducted survey at Panchagangavali river bank, Babbukudru isle, and municipal park in the town, to assess the tourism potential of the taluk. Prakash is on a visit to the district on the instructions of the tourism ministry.
He said that the department will consider introduction of boating facility at Panchagangavali bank, botanical garden at Babbukudru, and children’s play area with various facilities in the local park. He added that he will hold discussions with Udupi district deputy commissioner about the plan to construct a jetty for parking of boats, strait bridge to the isle to reach it easily, development of park etc, duly getting the technical survey through the Nirmiti Kendra.
The officials of the tourism department also held consultation with sub divisional officer, Sadashiv Prabhu, assistant forest conservator, Manjunath Shetty, municipal president, Mohandas Shenoy, and chief officer, Rayappa. Education officer, Gopal Shetty, who has been officiating as in-charge chief executive officer of the taluk panchayat, and various other officials and dignitaries accompanied the visiting team. U S Shenoy, convener of Panchagangavali Committee, placed before the officials various demands meant for the development of Panchagangavali bank and Babbukudru.
It was decided to invite sketches from artistes for the proposed installation of Panchaganga statue in Babbukudru. Panchagangavali Committee secretary, Umeshraj, proposed the vote of thanks.
