Madikeri: Holi Turns Nightmarish – Two Die, Three Injured in Accident

Madikeri, Mar 21: After a Maruti Omni vehicle in which Holi revellers were travelling, hit a roadside tree opposite government polytechnic in Kushalnagar in the district on the night of Sunday March 20, two persons lost their lives on the spot, while three others were seriously injured.

The deceased have been identified as Amar Singh (30), and Seetaram (30), both of whom are natives of Rajasthan. The injured were shifted to a hospital in Mangalore. Three others, who were in the van, escaped with minor injuries.

It is said that the group celebrated Holi by making merry at Dubare elephant camp near Kushalnagar the entire day. While they were returning to their base, the vehicle went out of control, resulting in the accident on Mani-Mysore state highway.  Police sources said that the inmates of the van were heavily drunk.

The accident occurred at around 8.30 pm. A case was registered in Kushalnagar police station.
