Mangalore: Krishna Byre Gowda Hails Tulu Culture as Unique

Mangalore, Mar 21: MLA and state youth Congress president, Krishna Byre Gowda, hailed Tulu culture as unique, and appreciated the efforts being made by the Tuluvas to keep their ancient culture alive in spite of invasion of global culture, and succeeding in their objective.

He was speaking after participating as guest in the first ever Jaya-Vijaya Jodukare Kambala in memory of Mankutota Nadajeguttu J Jayagangadhar Shetty at Jappinamogaru on the night of Saturday March 19. He appreciated the people of Tulunadu for preserving their culture and language, irrespective where they go and what they do.

Chairman of Coastal Development Authority, B Nagaraj Shetty, noted that completing of 100-metre race in 12 seconds is deemed as a record in Olympics. As compared to it, he noted that those who steer the buffalo pairs in Kambalas complete this stretch within nine seconds. He felt that this unique and special art from needs further encouragement.

Former MLA and AICC secretary, Vinayakumar Sorake, also stressed the need for extending more encouragement to Kambala. District in-charge minister, Krishna J Palemar, assembly deputy speaker, N Yogish Bhat, MP, Nalin Kumar Kateel, MLAs, B Ramanath Rai and U T Khader, BJP district president, Padmanabha Kottary, entrepreneurs, Prakash Shetty, Sadanand Shetty and Moidin Bawa, corporation commissioner, Dr K N Vijayaprakash, and others were present.

On this occasion, Palemar handed over an amount of five lac rupees released by the state government for the Kambala.
